Challenge

Execute the vision estabilshed by Aruliden Design while ensuring a premium fit and finish for Design for Manufacture, high quality Color/Material/Finish, and biocompliant materials.

Impact

The design considered every aspect of the product experience to ensure that Whoop became a comfortable, lightweight, and stylish device that athletes would want to wear 24 hours a day. To make the strap as comfortable and versatile as possible, all the components were fit into the head of the device. This allows the user to swap out the strap, while keeping all the hardware in one waterproof unit.

Initial Protoypes

Early prototypes were developed to evaluate the clasp mechanism concept.  We collaborated with Material ConneXion to test strap materials for biocompatibility and breathability

Component Layout and Fit

Every Millimeter is critical in a 24/7 wearable.  Multiple workshops and iterations were facilitated to balance water resistance, battery life, part reliability, tooling complexity, and the final lightweight form.

Contact vs. Comfort

Color/Material/Finish

CMF options were prototyped and evaluated during the detialing phase to ensure the right tactile and visual feel.
