Value Proposition Hypothoses

Engaging

  • Enable continued sense of community
  • Integrate into life with impact
  • Address emotional needs

Edith has always been the neighborhood social hub.  She is an active participant in her church and organizes bake sales.

She’s always liked walking the blocks and talking with everyone face to face, and her walls are covered with photos. She was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and is unable to be as active as she once was, but doesn’t want to feel isolated.

She likes her landline but she has a cell phone that she keeps for emergencies. Her daughter bought her an iPad that she is feeling pretty comfortable using.

Drawing on the aesthetic semantic of a digital photo frame, and suggesting a central location and regular interaction to drive adherence lift

Regular interaction is promoted and drives additional value

Engaging

  • Enable an active lifestyle
  • Integrate into the day with minimal disruption
  • Address other priorities

Jimmy is 78.  He is an avid gardener, and refuses to sit down for more than five minutes at a time. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and is afraid that his medication regimen will keep him tied to a pill box.

His mind’s sharp- he can still  remember the exact number of beets he got last year- but lately his eyes get tired halfway through the day. He is happy using technology if it fits his life and isn’t hard to learn.

“I can’t have glasses.  They just get in the way!”

Not tied to a device or a medication regime, the patient can live their life while being adherent

Invisible

  • Enable a feeling of independence
  • Integrate into the home with minimal disruption
  • Address forgetfulness

Geoffrey is 76.  He used to manage skyscraper construction projects- now he’s protective of his peace and quiet to help with his high blood pressure and atrial fibrillation.

His daughter Amy called him about an appointment this morning, and the ring of the phone jangled his nerves.  “I know, I know, don’t you worry about me,” he told her, but he was secretly grateful for the reminder.

Geoff’s hands don’t work so well anymore due to his arthritis, and he can’t understand these tiny screens Amy’s kids are always playing with.

Focusing on Discretion, using the medication dispensing as the alert, and a deadfront display,  The medication pouches themselves become the adherence lift drivers

Integrates seamlessly into the patient’s daily routine, and disappears when not needed

Prototype & Research

“It’s not the intrusive or the information confidential, I think big pharma just takes advantage of people”

“I would hide it. I would put it away. My kids are snoopy. People are going to ask you what technology you have.”

“It would be wonderful to see the information on if [my father] has missed or not.”
